Digital media bodies are ready for 26% FDI

Digital media bodies of India has accepted the government’s decision to bring FDI policy for digital news entities who upload and stream news and current affairs. According to the sources this step was taken to bring equality between news publisher & news aggregators.

Currently, there are a plethora of news aggregators operating in India such as, Daily-Hunt, InShorts, Helo, UC News and Newsdog who are funded with foreign investment. These aggregators have larger reach than Indian news publishers. Because of this inequality, the government decided to bring FDI in Digital News market.
