The incidence of cybercrime in India is increasing. An example of this has emerged in a report by cyber security company Symantec. It has been told that in the first half of this year, Indian users are most affected by form hacking attacks after USA and Australia. In such attacks, cybercriminal find a way to change the JavaScript files of any website. These hackers put malware-affected JavaScript code on the website so that they can steal the user’s card data and other personal information.

According to Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report, on average, websites affected in this way remain infected for 46 days. In the first 6 months of the year 2019, 52 percent of the form hacking attacks have been in the US and 8.1 percent of the attacks have been on the users of Australia. India comes at number three in this list. Here 6% of such attacks have occurred on users. It has been reported in the report that websites such as Ticketmaster, British Airways, Feedify and Newegg have been attacked so far.

Candid Wueest, a principal researcher at Symantec, said that there are form hacking attacks on different websites every month. With this, they also make millions of crores of rupees. He further said that users often do not notice that they are falling prey to form hacking attacks as such attacks are done only on the trusted online store. In order to avoid this, it is very important to have a comprehensive security solution so that users can be protected from this attack. Symantec reported that it has prevented more than 2.3 million form hacking attacks globally in the second quarter of 2019.
