Chinese smartphone maker has launched a new Qualcomm certified Quick Charge 3.0 charger in India. The charger is compatible with Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 and Mi Max 2 smartphones and Qualcomm’s latest two-way fast charging power banks that are Quick Charge 3.0 certified. Xiaomi already sells its standard 5V-2A charger in India but the new charger comes with up to 12V and 3A output.
The launch of this power adapter comes on the heels of Xiaomi Mi A1 getting Android 8.0 Oreo update which brings fast charging support to company’s first Android One device. In its product page, Xiaomi says its new 380V charger is designed to handle India’s frequent power surge and the charger is kept below 30-degree Celsius while in use to prevent overheating.
According to Qualcomm select smartphones are compatible with the company Quick Charge 3.0 Technology. While Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi Max, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, and Xiaomi MIX 2 are listed only three of the handsets are currently available in India. So, Mi 5, Mi Max 2 and Mi MIX 2 users can purchase the new adapter.
Although the aforementioned accessory is supported by three handsets, Xiaomi is trying hard to bring similar features in other handsets as well. With Android, Oreo rolls out the firm brought fast charging ability to its first Android One smartphone the Mi A1. Some other features included are 5.5-inch full HD, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB, 12MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.
The new Xiaomi charger has a power output of 5V-3A/9V-2A/12V-1.5A. It has surge protection up to 380V and features Automatic Temperature Control. Xiaomi says that the charger will no go beyond 30 degrees Celcius while in use to prevent overheating. The Xiaomi Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Charger comes only in Black color. When it comes to price the standard 5V-2A charger costs Rs 349 that is Rs 100 less than the new charger.
